Story

Alan's niece, Izzy McEgan, after finishing her first year at Liverpool University in July 2019 was working at Camp America when diagnosed with stage 4 renal cell carcinoma. She flew home to immediately begin treatment, despite being told the condition was too advanced to be curable.

Claire House Children's Hospice were involved in her care from the very beginning, including providing 24 hour advice and care, counselling for Izzy and her parents, complementary therapies, hydrotherapy and even organising a back stage tour to meet the cast of her favourite show Les Miserables.

Due to the care and dedication of Claire House Team, Izzy passed away very peacefully, at home in her own bed, surrounded by people who loved her on Sunday 10th May 2020

Claire House helps parents create wonderful experiences for their children and bring back a sense of normality to family life. By providing specialist nursing care and emotional support, Claire House helps families smile again when life couldn’t get any tougher.

Your money can make a real different to a family who urgently need more support.

Kenneth and Derek Hulme, owners of Halton Concrete and Building Supplies Widnes have generously provided the funding to cover the Wing Walking expense, Claire House Children's Hospice will therefore benefit 100% of all donations, plus gift Aid if applicable.

Whilst the need for this further appeal is to generate additional funding for the Claire House Children's Hospice, we must not forget that a young lady, Isabel "Izzy" has inspired so many individuals and groups to raise money in her memory, the total donated in her name in the 3 years since she died is now over £50k. Isabel will never be forgotten and many other unfortunate families and their children will have the use of such an important legacy created by your donations and kindness.
