Story
I will be Skydiving on the 10th of June on behalf of the wonderful charity The Lewis Foundation. My hope is to try and raise as much money as possible to support the incredible work that the team does!
HOW YOUR SUPPORT TO THE LEWIS FOUNDATION WILL HELP ADULT CANCER PATIENTS
At The Lewis Foundation we source, package and hand deliver gift packs for free to adult cancer patients across the Midlands weekly. These are items that patients may find difficult to buy themselves or simply cannot afford and that brings happiness and comfort at a difficult time. For many people in hospital our volunteers are their only regular visitors. The Lewis Foundation gives out on average of 2000 gift packs per month to 17 hospitals across the Midlands
How it works in the hospital, is that patients pick a gift pack of their choice from our gift trolley and there are 29 different packs to pick from. Packs range from toiletries, puzzle books and miniature radios. Once the gift is received, we then spend time with people to reduce loneliness.
One gift costs £3.60, the price of a coffee.
Lorraine and Lee are finding there is a growing demand for The Lewis Foundation services as they move into their sixth year. They are constantly approached by hospitals as NHS resources are continually stretched.
Anytime you use any of our services, you are supporting our vision that no one goes through cancer alone.
This ethos calls me, I strongly believe that no one should have to go through hardship or adversity alone! we are all in this together. I know that a life changing diagnosis for a family member or friend can be devastating as well as isolating. It would take every emotional and physical resolve to chose life every day.
Pushing myself physically, emotionally and mentally is something I have consciously chosen to do over the last 4 years, with the driving force to step out of my comfort zone, even though I'm terrified, I have signed up to the skydive! Your support means everything!
Thanks
Alan
