Story
HealthBus is a Bournemouth based charity that focuses on bringing wellbeing to the homeless communities, that are sometimes hidden from view.
The trust firmly believes in the equal right of every person to receive effective and evidence-based healthcare within a safe and non-judgmental environment. Therefore, three to four days per week the HealthBus team respond to vulnerable adults, using specialist vehicles. One of the vehicles is a converted ambulance, which has all the facilities of a medical practitioner’s office, and the other is a small electric car. HealthBus believe this level of care is an imperative piece of the puzzle to assisting a homeless person on their road to recovery. The trust also educates students and challenges them on the biases of why they think people become homeless.
The trust relies heavily on donations, grants and the volunteers that give up their time for free… which is where Team AJC can help.
On the week commencing 15th April we shall be taking on a week-long skip, lift and jump challenge at the AJC Head Office and ending it with pulling the 4.5 tonne Health Bus from Sandbanks to Bournemouth along the promenade, totalling 5km!
As a total we will achieve the following across the week of 15th-19th April:
* Lift 500 Health Buses weighing 4.5 tonnes each
* Jump a total of 5000 Health Buses at the height of 273cm
* Skip the population of BCP (196K)
This works out as a daily target per person at:
LIFT
3 sets x 6 minutes
Female – 15 lifts x 7.5kg dumbells (15kg total) – 10kg dumbells (20kg total)
Males – 15 lifts x 25kg dumbells (50kg total) – 60-100kg barbell
SKIP
3 sets x 6 mins - skipping between 56-75 per min
JUMP
3 sets x 6 minutes
10-12 box jumps per minute
As you can see from the totals above, this is quite the challenge! Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
