Story
Members of the Aberdeen office have chosen to walk The Mither Tap timeline Trail @ Bennachie, to raise funds for the Burnside House, Dermatology ward at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary Aberdeen.
The team are climbing the finest peak in Bennachie, a very steep, rough trail with rough rock steps and drains to help raise funds for Burnside house. The impressive Mither tap which is a landmark in the area will see members of our team follow the waymarked path through woods and moorland through a steep climb to the summit with a steep ascent. The team will tackle this together before returning back on a circular route.
The ward supports various skin conditions but most importantly Skin Cancers, common reasons for referral include mole checks if a mole has changed, or if the patient or their GP suspects skin cancer.
More than 210,000 cases of non-melanoma skin cancer are diagnosed annually in the UK with rates predicted to reach almost 400,000 per year by 2025. Over 16,000 cases of melanoma (the deadliest form of skin cancer) are diagnosed every year in the UK.
Sadly, one of our colleagues was Diagnosed with a Melanoma stage 1 skin cancer in 2017, which was an unexpected diagnosis. Due to the quick action of the ward this had been caught, and removed at an early stage so no further treatment was required. The dermatology ward in Aberdeen has been outstanding in their support and provides appointments quickly for any moles of concern, their service and quick action have been lifesaving.
The ward has also helped family members of the team. The service has always been a positive experience, so we wish to raise some funds locally to assist the ward and anyone who is facing similar experiences.
If you can spare any money to donate it would be greatly appreciated by the Ward and all the team at Airswift.
