We provide holistic, healing support to people impacted by abuse in childhood.

Story

I am taking part in the Ultra Comedy Event in Glasgow on June 22nd, Where I will be on stage performing Stand Comedy alongside other beginners to fundraise for charities of our choice. My chosen charity is Wellbeing Scotland, a charity who have helped me transform my life in a profound way.

“1 in 4 children across Scotland experience some form of childhood abuse.

Wellbeing Scotland work with children, young people, adults, and families across Scotland to provide a supportive space for survivors of childhood abuse and trauma to be seen, heard and start to heal. We are still only reaching a fraction of those we could help - and we know the need for our support will only increase.”

My Story…

As a child I attended a primary school that was not equipped to deal with a little girl with a spirit as big as mines. I was neurodivergent, this wasn’t recognised. They eventually Acknowledged there was something wrong (ADHD was seen as only for boys back then, this was not on their radar). Instead of working with me to allow me to flourish, I became the class scapegoat and I was abused for being different. Bullying by my peers was encouraged and I never felt safe from the day I entered that school and this followed me all the way to adulthood. I was seen as bad and rotten to the core. This couldn’t be further from the truth!

This abuse set the tone of my life going forward and instilled core beliefs that have taken me a long time to reframe. I continued to collect trauma throughout my life; like it was the most collectible thing on this earth.

I developed Complex Post traumatic stress disorder at an early age on top of the struggles I already faced being a female neurodivergent (AuADHD). For many years no-one could figure out why I was the way I was. I later went onto developed Bipolar Affective Disorder around the age of 11/12 Eventually I figured it all out. And praise the universe I did!

My therapist at Wellbeing Scotland helped me understand what happened to me and to accept none of this was my fault, I was a child! It took me a long time to realise what happened to me was abuse. From the age of 4 years old I believed everything and anything that happened to me in my life was always my fault. I took on the blame for other people’s actions, I felt guilt and shame for being me and obviously thought I deserved everything that was coming to me. The burden they (my abusers) placed on me was not my guilt or shame to carry, But non the less it haunted me relentlessly through life. A heavy weight I could not shift, until i accidentally fell into the hands of Wellbeing Scotland. What a blessing!

The lack of being seen and heard was a major factor in my life, until I seen and heard myself. And I fought tirelessly throughout my life to been seen and heard. To this day I am still greatly misunderstood and that’s ok, i understand myself and I am lucky I have people who do understand me and love for me, or at least they pretend to understand me!

Right, that was depressing AF…there’s pills for that! I’m not sharing mines though, get yer ‘Ain’! Despite the hardships, My experiences have given me a lot of character traits that aren’t so depressing…

I am empathetic, I am kind, caring and understand the human condition immensely. And most importantly and relevant to what I’m doing…

…Trauma made me funny!

I love to make people laugh and cheer people up through humour. I laugh my way through life and everything it throws at me. And I hope you can get behind me (keep it clean) and support me and the incredible charity that is Wellbeing Scotland and the great things Ultra comedy do to raise money for sooo many charities.

I want to give back as this charity gave me back my power back and taught me that I am a decent human and I deserve to be happy!

You can help me and Wellbeing Scotland continue to make a positive impact in the lives of childhood abuse survivors across Scotland and to reach as many survivors as possible. Well being Scotland not only transforms lives, it’s saves them.

Get behind this great cause and dig deep (only if you can), you’ll go to heaven.

If you managed to read all of this you are a trooper. I don’t half go on n on n on, n on n on.

Thank you and I’ll hopefully be seeing you for a great night of laughter and fun as me and a bunch of other brave souls stand up to hopefully give you a giggle! But, Just gonna be polite and laugh, thanking you!

Peace out Homies. ✌️
