Story

Demelza House is a children’s hospice that provides respite care, end of life care and family support ranging from art therapy, counselling, sibling support and wellbeing days for carers and guardians.

My brother Jamie (22) was diagnosed with multiple genetic conditions such as Hypomelanosis of Ito which causes seizures at 3 years old. Jamie is registered deaf blind and has autism. Jamie’s seizures stop him from breathing and can be very scary for the family.

We accessed Demelza house when Jamie was 7 years old. He had regular respite which gave our family a break from caring for him and enabled our family to have a closer bond. We regularly go to demelza events and days out where we connect with other family’s and siblings in the same boat.

Demelza is an extraordinary charity that provides extraordinary care that has really helped my family. However, having a child with a life limiting condition comes with its struggles. We have lost many friends whilst being with Demelza.

I am doing this skydive in memory of our friends who we’ve lost.

Please donate if you are able so that Demelza can continue supporting families like ours. Demelza would not be able to continue they’re amazing services without donations as they receive no government funding🩵
