DUCFS 2025 is fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity providing healthcare, practical and emotional support, education, and more, in support of those living with cancer, as well as for DUCFS Launchpad, our creative outreach platform.

Story

This year I am an ambassador for the Durham University Charity Fashion Show!

For DUCFS 2025, we are very excited to be partnering with Macmillan Cancer Support in the North East, helping them to support those living with cancer within our local community. I will be taking part in the annual Macmillan Winter Walk on the 26th January to help DUCFS reach their fundraising target for Macmillan.

Raising money for this charity is especially important to me, as I will be walking in memory of my grandmother, who passed away 11 years ago after a battle with cancer. She would have been turning 80 years old on January 24th, and so I couldn’t think of a better way to honour her memory by celebrating her milestone birthday with my family and supporting Macmillan's incredible work.

We will be supporting a brand new project from Macmillan in the North East, with the aim of funding two new roles, a psychologist and assistant psychologist. They will be based in the North East, providing psychological support to those within our community living with cancer, a role which until now has been unfulfilled.

We will also be supporting DUCFS Launchpad, our creative outreach platform. Through a series of projects focused on local community, arts, and music, Launchpad aims to ignite change in the North East.
