Story
***Background - the reason is labelled further down**
Let's face it, if you don't know about Rob Burrow and Kev Sinfield you may have been living under a rock recently.
In short, Rob Burrow was a Leeds Rhino rugby player who is great buddies with fellow ex player Kev Sinfield. Rob developed MND and is now wheelchair bound and unable to talk. Kev has done all sorts of incredible activities to raise money for the Rob Burrow centre to be built and one of the most emotional things I've ever seen was Kev pushing Rob round the inaugural Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, then carrying Rob, out of his wheelchair over the line so they crossed together.
***Get to the point Aileen ****
I am not doing anything as incredible, but.....
Little did I know that a few months after wiping the tears from my eyes watching this, a close family friend would be affected by this horrible disease.
I am doing the Leeds 10k primarily to raise money for MND, to try and get back in to running, as it is will be my first 'big' run with my ileostomy and, from a really selfish point of view to feel I am doing something practical to help as you feel entirely useless when all you can do is proffer moral support to a family who would give you the coat off their backs.
I send love to all affected, especially the family I know (Hope you all know I'm here for you!) and thanks to the rest of you for reading this and donating (hopefully!)
