Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Those two funny looking blokes in the profile picture are called Martyn and Lou. We are two ex-rugby players from South of England. Happy chappies without a care in the world apart from making our tache’s look neat. Is what you would think from a first look. But in reality we have both had first hand experiences in how poor mental health can affect someone’s life. There is also a stigma around rugby players that we are all tough and scary and nothing could hurt us, this couldn’t be further from the truth. This is why we are taking on the challenge of Advent Kilometres in aid of Brave Mind.
Brave Mind are a fantastic organisation that makes talking about and supporting each other with mental health the norm. They are about getting into action, working with rugby clubs and schools to put mental health at the heart of their community
So….What is Advent Kilometers you ask? On the 1st of December we will be running 1K, on the 2nd - 2K, 3rd - 3K. All the way up to Christmas Day where we will be running 25K. This will consist of running over 300k, involving 149K in just 7 days.
We understand that times are hard for everyone at this time. So we appreciate it even more of you wish to donate to support us on this challenge. If we can start just one conversation around someone struggling with mental health through putting ourselves through hours of pain, that would be just incredible.
To all the rugby players out there. If your mate can have your back when you’re on the field, why don’t you tell them how you feel off the field.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you. From the bottom of our hearts
Let’s start a conversation.
