Story
Sue Parkin, as many of you know, has worked for the Trust at North Devon for over 38 years in Paediatrics, Care of the Elderly and The Stroke Team. Sue has made many friends and touched so many people during that time.
Unfortunately, Sue was diagnosed in 2021 with EATL (Enteropathy-Associated T-Cell Lymphoma) a very rare type of non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma which is fast growing and aggressive. Sue underwent several grueling months of Chemotherapy and was given the all clear in July 2021. Sue took the very difficult decision to leave the Trust in June last year realising how precious life was and wanting to spend more time with family and friends. During the last few months Sue has made the most of this time, enjoying holidays, the beach and her family. Sue has also undertaken workshops at The Fern Centre and has found the support from the Centre invaluable.
Now the devastating news is that the lymphoma has returned and this time is untreatable. This is a very difficult time for Sue and her husband Kevin and daughters Emily and Elle and they have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support and are extremely thankful for all the cards and flowers received.
Sue has expressed a wish that any friends or colleagues wishing to send flowers or cards could instead donate here which she would like to be for the benefit of the Fern Centre to show her and her family’s appreciation for all the support that Sue has received over the last few months and the fun she’s had there, for which they will be forever grateful.
