• I'M HAVING A MID LIFE CRISIS •
What have I done!!!! Anyone that knows me knows that I'm very laid back, chilled, like a simple life and get motivated if there's a pint waiting at the end. However, in contrast to that, I have crazily decided to do a 5 day trek along the Great Wall of China in 2025 in aid of Prospect Hospice!
It's a 9 day adventure, trekking from Gubeikou to Jinshanling and Simatai, not only on the wall itself, but also through wild and remote landscapes.
I will be hiking various sections of the wall which are quite challenging as they are some of the less visited sections and are almost completely worn away with the terrain underfoot being rugged and uneven.
There are many steep uphill and downhill sections to contend with and the ascent and descent profile each day ranges from 7km to 16km. Part of the trek will have over 10,000 steps to climb, so it's going to be a tough challenge. Hopefully the thought of (hopefully) a rice wine at the end will keep my spirits high.
I will be organising several fund-raising events over the next year with all money raised going towards my target of £4,000. Approximately 50% of this target is needed to fund the trip. I will be looking to fund this amount separately to donations made through this page. Therefore, any donations through this site, no matter how big or small, will be greatly appreciated and will be for the benefit of the hospice.
Prospect Hospice offer unparalleled end-of-life care services for a community of more than 330,000 people in Swindon, Marlborough and north east Wiltshire. Their vision is for a community where death is no longer taboo and everyone lives and dies well.
If you are able to make a donation or attend one of my events, I will be extremely grateful.
Thank you so much in advance for your contribution and support. I will endeavour to keep you all updated with my journey up to and during the trek (signal permitting).
