Story
I am delighted to be running the London Marathon again and proud to be running it for a cause that is so close to my heart.
My daughter was born with Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD), a progressive autosomal recessive inherited disease affecting the lungs and liver. The disease is relatively common (1 in 3000) but is not widely known and is under diagnosed.
Alpha-1 antitrypsin (AAT) is an inhibitor of proteinase enzymes. It is produced in the liver and protects the lungs. Affected individuals have a predisposition to serious lung and liver disease, and there is currently no cure for AATD.
I am raising money for the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation not only to help fund vital research into liver disease, but more specifically because the materials and support provided by the charity gave my wife and I much needed clarity and comfort at a time that was fraught with worry and uncertainty.
Please help me support this incredible charity to enable it to continue to fund critical research and provide support to those that need it. Your donation will make a difference.
Thank you 🙏🏼
