I have been lucky enough to get myself a place in this years London marathon which takes place on Sunday the 27th of April 2025 and I will be raising money for on behalf of the Sheffield hospitals charity with the proceeds going to the Emergency Department.

I have worked for the Sheffield Teaching hospitals for 22 years and the majority of that time been based in the Emergency Department. Starting off as a Porter and working my way up to my current position as an Emergency Department Amin Team Leader and also being a 'Sheffield lad' living my whole life in the close vicinity to the Northern General Hospital this holds a great place in my life. The work that I see from my colleagues is nothing short of admirable, that's everyone from the domestics, porters, admin staff , Nurses and doctors, they are all truly amazing and work under immense stress and pressure. Not only will i be running the London Marathon which is one of the biggest events in the running calendar, I'll also be running the Rob Burrows Leeds Marathon two weeks later!! Two marathons in two week? easy eh?

Sheffield Hospitals Charity help Sheffield’s hospitals, community teams and health and social care services to cover costs their NHS budgets can’t.

They fund support for patients and staff, life-changing research and more, so that they can enhance care from birth to the end of life and everything in between.
