Story
Lucy and I were friends since before I could remember. We went on holidays together, shared a lot of memories together, worked together, went to school together and played lots of different sports together. At the age of 17, she took her own life and is missed daily by many. In the attempt to raise awareness of suicide prevention and mental health in young people, I am running the Leeds half marathon on the 11th May for PAPYRUS in memory of Lucy.
PAPYRUS is the national charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide.
Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK, every year over 1800 young people take their own lives. PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINE247.
Every £10 raised can contribute towards a life-saving contact to HOPELINE247. Your donations really are changing lives, thank you.
