Story

I'm joining in solidarity with the 1 in 5 families in Nottingham suffering from food poverty by fasting for the day on the 24th of March, to fundraise for Nottingham largest independent Food Bank. I'd like to dedicate this fast in particular to my Iranian friends, and the women leading the ongoing revolt against authoritarian rule in their country.

In the last 6 months Himmah's Food bank has provided 8,196 food parcels supporting 4,534 Adults & 3,662 Children, equating to 75 tonnes of food distributed. They see demand increasing for our services and costs are skyrocketing. Every month they purchase £10,000 worth of food from other charities and wholesalers.

In Ramadan Muslims choose to fast, many in this city have no choice but hunger. I'm asking for your sponsorship for a one day complete fast (no water, or coffee!) on the 24th of March, and we'll be breaking our fast together in Old Market Square at 5pm for Himmah's "Dates in the Square" event where we will bring communities together to commit to tackling food poverty.
