Story
Last year one of my dearest friends, Samantha Bowman, lost her life to cancer at the age of 55. Nothing was too much trouble for Sam. She always did everything she could to help others. This included her work at The Cavalier Centre, where she helped them raise money. As she is no longer able to do this, I want to do my bit.
Please can you generously sponsor me as I trek up Kilimanjaro this August in her memory. Here is a summary of the incredible work they do at The Cavalier Centre:
The Cavalier Centre provides disabled and disadvantaged people of all backgrounds, with the opportunity to benefit their mental and physical health, using interaction with horses as a form of therapy. This work is undertaken in association with the National RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association). In addition to the therapeutic riding activities, the Centre also runs a number of equine facilitated educational and skills development programmes aimed at improving the employment prospects for young children and adults alike.
As one of the leading specialised riding centres in Shropshire, The Cavalier Centre not only benefits people with special needs, but also the entire community, giving opportunities for volunteering, school participation and practical experience for children and adults working with people and animals.
As a charity, a significant proportion of the Centres’ expenses are funded by donations, without which they could not operate, or continue to provide the livery for the 13 horses who are at the heart of everything they do.
