Story
On the 19th April I received a phone call that changed my life forever- my dear friend Adam had taken his own life. Words cannot convey the absolute heartache and devastation of this in itself but to then see the rippling effects of this across Adam's family, his other friends, loved ones, colleagues and every one who knew him, was horrific.
Adam had an infectious laugh, the warmest hugs and the biggest heart. I was lucky enough to be placed in the same form as Adam in secondary school (where we met in year 7) and we quickly became inseparable with a shared sense of humour and taste in music. Along with our group of friends we grew up together: we laughed and we cried, we visited one another at college and then university, we would go out and come home with random piercings and matching tattoos, we had wild nights out and cosy nights in, we went to gigs, visited theme parks, went on minibreaks, spent countless hours on the phone to one another and even more sharing and tagging random silly things online for one another to see. Adam was a larger than life character and subsequently, in order to raise as much money as possible in his memory, I've decided to take on the biggest challenge that I could find.
On Saturday 17th August, at 17:00, I will be abseiling 400ft down the National Lift Tower in Northampton. I will be raising funds for Andy's Man Club as no one should have to experience the pain that so many of us have felt from Adam's passing. Although there is sadly nothing that can bring Adam back my hope is that the money raised from this abseil will go towards helping countless others via the staff and facilities available at the various Andy's Man Club's up and down the country.
So I beg you, please dig deep and donate anything that you can. I would love to be able to raise £1 per foot. I know that this is a very tall order (just like the tower I'll be going down) but this could help one of your friends, it could help one of your family members or it could help one of your colleagues, you never know who is struggling. Let's spread the message together: #ITSOKAYTOTALK
