Story
Team BIBS are running the Reading Half to raise funds to purchase the Buscot Ward a brand new incubator, costing £24,000! Please see below for more information on this life saving piece of equipment!
BIBS is a very special charity and holds a place very close to my family's heart. My gorgeous baby niece, Erin ('LittleE'), had a very traumatic entry into this world and had to spend her first few weeks in the Buscot Ward at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, learning to breathe and feed independently. Erin was later diagnosed with Potocki–Lupski syndrome (PTLS), a newly recognised genetic condition with many "unknowns". The staff at BIBS have shown incredible support towards both Erin and her lovely parents, my lovely eldest sister, Meg, and her partner, Paul. LittleE has had access to specialist equipment and expertise, and her parents have received so much care and love, such as being provided a flat on the ward to allow them to be there for Erin. Without the funding from BIBS, this support and equipment would not be available for babies that really need medical attention. With all the "unknowns" associated with LittleE's syndrome, we are eternally grateful for the support she continues to receive from BIBS. Please sponsor me today, to help babies like my incredible brave niece, Erin, and support all those incredible parents!
The Incubator: this life saving piece of equipment will be replacing one of the current incubators which are between 5-10 years old! It has lots of benefits over the current ones –
💜 it can be lowered all the way down to allow positioning to support family integrated care
💜 it has gentle drop access panels which minimizes stress induced sound frequently produced when accessing a baby
💜 there is a no disturb x-ray cassette tray so that the staff would not need to disturb the baby's environment during radiologic procedures
💜 has built in weighing scales.
💜 not to mention the change in technology!
Babies in Buscot Support (BIBS) raise funds to give sick and premature newborns at the RBH the best possible start in life.
