Story

On the 27th of December after being sent home from hospital twice, my daughter Lydia was born in an emergency, unplanned home birth.

It was not a straightforward delivery, I had a substantial postpartum bleed and Lydia was born with the cord wrapped around her neck. We both required life saving treatment on scene before being transferred to hospital.

Because of the incredible team of paramedics who arrived within minutes of dialing 999, and minutes before Lydia's arrival, the only casualty was our mattress.

We are all now happy and thriving! I am falling in love with running again and attempting to keep up with Lydia who causes chaos wherever she goes.

I think about our birth everyday, and sometimes I find myself wondering "what would have happened if they didn't arrive on time?" but I'd much rather think that, than have to wonder "What would have happened if they did?"

I'm raising money for the LAS in the hopes that others in the future don't have to wonder 'what if?'
