Story
On the 14th April, I will be running the Manchester Marathon for Alzheimer’s Society, a charity close to my family’s heart.
In summer 2023 my grandpa, Eric, was sadly diagnosed with vascular dementia.
Watching someone you love slowly slip away from you is heartbreaking. Not just losing their memory of you but their memory of themselves.
The hardest of all was after 61 years of marriage, him no longer recognising my grandma.
There’s good days and definitely bad days but we’re fortunate enough to have a support network of dear family and friends.
But many aren’t as fortunate and face this cruel disease alone.
Alzheimer’s Society have provided us with invaluable support and advice and they’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.
1 in 3 people born in the UK today will be diagnosed with dementia in their lifetime
Donations fund not only vital support but life changing research, providing hope for the future.
While everyone of course has a charity close to their heart, if you’d like to donate to Alzheimer’s Society, I would be incredibly grateful for any donations.
Many thanks !
