Story
As many of you will know, our world changed when we lost Phil Walker to suicide in July 2021. He was funny, outgoing, the life and soul of every party, deeply loving, and deeply loved. We, like many other friends, families, and communities who have experienced this type of loss were left with a hole in our lives.
Sadly, our family and community are not alone. Suicide is an ever growing and often silently battled problem, affecting over 7000 families in the UK per year.
Phil's 35th birthday would have been on Sunday 22nd June 2025. To honour his memory we are coming together that day to raise money for the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM). We will be doing a sponsored walk along the Northumberland coast, followed by a fundraising day at Brewis Beer Co. in Amble, including a raffle and bake sale.
Phil always celebrated his birthday in full, positive style, and that's exactly what we will be doing too. This day is about remembering him with love, laughter and community. And hopefully raising a tonne of money for an incredibly important charity too!
Phil spent so many happy days and evenings at Brewis Beer Taproom, with his daughter, with friends, and with family, being the mischievous, gregarious, charismatic lad he was known to be. It could not be more fitting that this fundraiser is organised and supported by them in his memory - Thanks to all the amazing team there for this.
Every donation, no matter the size, will help CALM reach those who need it most. They work tirelessly to prevent suicide, provide vital support, and challenge the stigma around mental health. Every donation helps CALM reach more people who are struggling, ensuring no one has to face their darkest hours alone.
This is for my brother, for everyone facing their own struggles, and every person who knows the loss of a loved one in this way.
Lets walk, remember, and make a difference - together.
Thank you for your support,
Abbie x
