Story
Rest in peace my darling Dad <3
My amazing dad was diagnosed with stage 4 Bowel Cancer in January 2021. Anyone reading this who knew my dad will know that he was this fittest 65 year old man alive before he got this diagnoses. An absolute legend in Cricket, Squash, Cycling, Golf and Fishing. He was a true sportsman and an inspiration for many.
On January 4th at 20:50pm my dad passed away peacefully in his sleep with my mum, my sister and myself all holding him, telling him not to worry and that everything will be okay.
Watching him daily over the last 3 years in so much pain, trying to beat this cancer has killed me, which is why running in the 2024 London Marathon has motivated me to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK and hopefully help eradicate this terrible disease.
The money I plan to raise will help save lives and play a small part in improving the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. Bowel Cancer UK’s vision is a future where nobody dies of the disease. The money will help research that improves the prevention, early detection and treatment of the disease. I would hate for anyone to suffer the way my dad has!
Massive thanks in advance to any donors for getting involved. Your support means so much to me and will encourage me massively to train and smash this marathon. I am going to need as much encouragement as possible, because running 26 miles isn’t going to be easy, but I know thinking of my dad will motivate me every step of the way.
His energy and sprit will be with me every step of the way.
Dad, I love you so much, you are my world, my everything.
Let’s help raise money and beat this cancer!
Much love, Abbie xxx
