Story
I'm supporting Shine by taking on the London Marathon in 2024!
So back in October 2021, my close friends found out they were having a little girl and it was confirmed then that she infact had Spina Bifida. At 24 weeks, Liv went through surgery whilst Isla was still in the womb to give her the best chance in life!
On 22nd January 2022, at 34 weeks Isla decided she wanted to make an early arrival! Liv got rushed down to University College London Hospital for a c-section. They were kept in for a couple of weeks so they could keep an eye on them both and then a further week at GOSH...When Isla was about 4 months old Liv & Lewis had another hospital stay at GOSH as Isla needed a VP shunt fitted to help her Hydrocephalus.
I want to spread awareness of Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus and the research behind it as until Isla was born I has only heard of the conditions and didn't know much about them. Isla is doing really well and Liv & Lewis wouldn't / couldn't have got to where they are without Shine's support. So I have also decided to do this as a THANK YOU to Shine for all the support they have given them.
Shine provides specialist support from before birth and throughout the life of anyone living with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus, as well as to parents, families, carers and professional care staff. Shine enables people to get the best out of life. Everything we do is made possible by our generous supporters. Your donation helps individuals and families in your local communities across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Every donation has the potential for profound impact.
THANK YOU for supporting Shine!
