I am running the London Marathon for Dementia UK. Recently a very good friend and neighbour of mine died, Reg Winning, from the disease. He was a lovely man and sadly missed by all. My late grandmother suffered with dementia and one of my late father’s 2nd World War friends suffered and died of dementia.
I am also running for all those young people and adults who care for people with this awful disease.Recently our family has been affected by suddenly losing Diane, who had been the main carer to her partner, George. He is now being cared and looked after in a residential home.
We are also aware of close friends having to care for their older family members who have varying levels of Dementia but the stress put on family lives due to the disease is relentless.
Every pound I raise will go towards the excellent work and projects of Dementia UK. Providing specialist nurses to support families affected by dementia.
Finally, on a very personal note I had planned to run for The Katherine Jacobs Trust, however we will shortly closing down the Trust after several years of raising awareness of Necrotising Fasciitis which Kathy died of.Please visit the website for further information - www.KJTrust.com
Thanking you for reading the above and your continual support.
