Story
On the 21st April 2024 I will be taking part in the London Marathon to raise money for the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR).
5 years ago I lost my wonderful Mum to a brain tumour. Originally when she was diagnosed, she was given less than 12 months to live but due to her determination and also the incredible work from charity’s like this one, she managed just short of two years. During the two years although it wasn’t always easy, she was able to enjoy many different experiences including a trip to Paris with myself, which I will be forever grateful for.
For the last seven years, since her diagnosis, I have applied for the London Marathon to raise funds and give back to enable someone to have the experiences we were lucky to have.
For the last seven years I have been rejected, including this year. Luckily for me, recently ICR got in touch to say that someone had unfortunately dropped out through injury and as much as I would have loved a full ‘training camp’ it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.
The training and marathon will be tough but my mum was tougher 💪
Much love,
