Story
12 years ago I narrowly escaped a spinal injury when I had a bilateral C1 fracture after a bike accident, and think of this every month when the local Spinal Injuries Scotland Support Group meet at rhe cafe where I work and I see at firsthand the valuable work which they do. This is what the charity says :
“Peer Support is at the heart of what we do. Our volunteers are former patients or have a family member with a spinal injury. These Peer Supporters use their own experience of a spinal injury in a meaningful and positive way by drawing on their own personal experience of recovery to help others going through a difficult rehabilitation by offering empathy and understanding, and by encouraging the development of mutual support relationships.”
A spinal injury is often sudden and life changing and the help of Peer Supporters is crucial. Thank you for helping me to raise money to continue their work.
