I have done a few Charity cycles before, I enjoy the challenge and getting myself fit! The previous cycle challenges have all been between 4 and 6 days long, the challenge of doing LEJoG (Land End to John O’Groats ) has appealed to me as it is a British event and also quite an achievement to cycle the length of this country. The training road has not been an easy one for me this time!! I have turned 50 and have decided this will most likely be the hardest event I have had to train for, and the idea of an electric bike after the event to replace my trusty bike is very appealing!
Between the horrible weather, crashing my bike early on, having a bad bout of Covid followed by chest infection and not to mention my mums illness and then passing last month, training has not been smooth or consistent and I almost felt the need to postpone the event on many occasions! Sharon has remained determined and has quietly been patient and let me moan and I have now rallied and have been putting in the miles and we are both going to nail it!
We hope to raise some money for the Beatson as this is a facility and great service that most cancer sufferers get to use! Unfortunately my mum never made it to the start of treatment but she held out hope! I know many people who have graced the doors and floors of the Beatson and it’s a fantastic charity to be fundraising for! I am doing this in memory of my wonderful mum so please give what you can ❤️

Lands end to John o Groats - what an adventure!
Training for this event has been fun even with the wind, rain and the hills theres not a ride out I haven't enjoyed. I am under no illusions however that this 1000 + miles won't be gruelling and challenging at times but our plan is to stick together and support each other as we have in training. Marjorie and I both have a determined family streak that will get us to the end and smash this!!
I am doing this for the challenge and experience but also for my Mum who was taken by cancer when she wasn't much older than me...way too young
As none of us know when our loved ones may be affected by cancer we are hoping to raise funds for the Beatson, a great hospital that does fantastic work giving treatments, care and support to patients and families from all over.
So please give what you can ❤️. Thank you.
