Story
Jesse Osborn was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia at just 2 years old in November 2023.
His treatment has been led by the magnificent team at the Royal Marsden who work alongside the Institute of Cancer Research.
We are so grateful for the research the ICR has done and continues to do for all cancers. It is the incredible work of Professor Sir Mel Greaves who has pioneered childhood cancer research since the 1970s which has meant that the survival rates for ALL have dramatically improved.
“We’re on the brink of making more breakthroughs that will offer many more children with cancer the chance of a cure and a good quality of life – but we need your help to do it.”
– Professor Sir Mel Greaves
The ICR also has a formidable breast cancer research division, another cause close to our hearts, which is home to 145 scientists.
As we celebrate Jesse being in remission and making it through the most intense period of chemotherapy, Jesse's cousins will be running a variety of distances ranging from 1km to a whopping 10km, aiming to finish together at North Sheen Recreation Ground on 6th July.
Jesse's gruelling treatment took its toll and a spell in high dependency meant he has had to relearn to walk. But Jesse hopes to join in and run the last 100m, with a little help from his big cousins. He is only able to do this as a result of the work done by the ICR and his incredible medical teams, for which we will always be grateful.
