Sam's 'Everyday in May' for Dravet Syndrome UK

Every Day in May for Dravet · 1 May 2025 to 31 May 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
Hello,
Those closest to me know that my younger sister, Harriet (also known as Harrie, Curly, Smiler or Trouble), has a form of epilepsy (Dravet Syndrome) which greatly affects her day-to-day life and requires 24/7 care.
Dravet Syndrome is a rare, life-long and life-limiting neurological condition. It includes seizures, intellectual and physical disability and a range of associated health conditions known as ‘co-morbidities’.’
Around one in every 15,000 babies in the UK will be born with Dravet Syndrome.
Dravet Syndrome UK have done an incredible job of supporting my family over the years. From iPads to financial contributions towards a specialist wheelchair, her life has been enriched with the funding that DSUK have provided.
They haven’t just helped my sister but my dedicated mum who has devoted her life to the full time care of Harriet (31). From beautiful moments to many difficult ones, and all the tears and laughter in between, I have seen all of the challenges that Dravet syndrome can present. The work that Dravet Syndrome UK do for families similar to my own is so very important and I’d love to help, not only give back by raising a few pounds, but also raise awareness.
Whereas on a local scale DSUK have been fantastic for my family, I also know the amount of time and money they put into research, seminars and education in the medical field for this condition. In turn this goes a long way in helping and supporting those who immediately need it - so let’s raise a few bob!
So whats the plan? I’m lacing up the running shoes, downloading Strava and becoming one of many annoying joggers that frequent the many East London parks. I’ll be taking part in the ‘Everyday in May’ challenge organised by the DSUK. The idea is simple, everyday in May I (and many others!) will be running 5k everyday.
JOIN IN - Take part and join in with a great initiative for an even better cause. If running 5k isn’t quite your jam, there is also the option to cycle, swim or walk either 5km or 2km everyday!
SPREAD THE WORD - Tell all your friends, show your families and give it a share on social media!
DONATE - Any donation is welcomed and greatly appreciated.
Big love, Sam
