Story
I turn 40 on the 18th of May. As is my personality I wanted to do something crazy to celebrate this milestone. I thought, maybe I could run 40kays on my 40th, but that didn't seem wild enough.
Now 40kays, every day, for 40days, ending on my 40th? That gets me excited.
When I floated this idea with people, the consistent feedback was - you should be raising money! It made sense, but what charity would I raise it for?
When I thought about it, the most important thing to me is my children. I couldn't imagine something happening to them that would require hospitalisation. Yet families here in Newcastle are going through this everyday. What a great opportunity to raise funds for a great organisation in my local area.
Here some details on the JHCH -
The Childrens Hospital in Newcastle, one of three childrens hospitals in NSW, will over the course of a year see almost 25,000 children and young people present to the emergency department, have 9,000 admitted to hospital and perform over 100,000 occasions of service through outpatient clinics.
If you're in a position to donate, please consider helping me reach my goal of 40K - that number just made sense.
I'd also love a running partner or 2, so if you feel like lacing up your boots between the 8th of April and the 18th of May, I'd love some company.
Best,
Nic Brady
