Ultra Marathon Walk · 3 May 2025

We support families facing childhood cancer to make sure no family faces it alone

Story

On May 3, 2025, a dedicated group of 30 staff, led by the Principal and Headteacher from The Holgate Academy and Leen Mills Primary School, will embark on a challenging 60 kilometer marathon hike in memory of Oliver Shilton, a former student of both schools who tragically lost his battle with cancer last year. This journey will visit all of Oliver's favorite sports teams' homes, as well as the schools he attended. The route will take participants past The Holgate Academy, Leen Mills Primary School, Notts County Football Club, Nottingham Rugby Club, and will culminate at the iconic Welford Road, home of Oliver’s cherished Leicester Tigers Rugby Club.

This ultra-marathon hike is being undertaken to raise vital funds for PASIC (Parents’ Association for Children with Cancer), in honor of Oliver. During his own battle with cancer, PASIC provided essential support to Oliver and his family, and as a school community, we want to give back by helping others facing similar challenges. PASIC offers vital care and resources to children, young people, and their families affected by cancer throughout the East Midlands.

Our vision is simple: No family should face childhood cancer alone. Join us in supporting PASIC as they continue their lifesaving work, and help us make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.
