254 Multi-Role Medical Regiment fundraiser for Gurkha Welfare Trust

Liam Savory is raising money for Gurkha Welfare Trust

Three Peaks Challenge · 25 September 2026

The Gurkha Welfare Trust is the leading Gurkha charity. We provide financial, medical and community aid to relieve poverty and distress among retired Gurkha soldiers, their families and their wider communities.

Story

In September, a team from 254 MMR will be taking on the brutal Three Peaks Challenge, pushing through long miles, steep ascents, unpredictable weather, and sheer exhaustion to raise vital funds for the Gurkha Welfare Trust. This is more than just a personal test of endurance; it is a chance to give back to a community of soldiers whose loyalty, bravery, and sacrifice have shaped generations of service. The Gurkhas have stood shoulder to shoulder with British forces for over 200 years, and many veterans now rely on this charity for essential support, care, and dignity in later life.

Every step I take up those mountains is driven by that purpose. Through fatigue, cold, and the pressure to keep moving, I will be carrying more than just my kit. I will be carrying a commitment to make a difference. This challenge will demand resilience, determination, and grit, but it is nothing compared to what Gurkha soldiers have faced in service.

I am asking for your support to help turn this challenge into something that truly matters. Whether through donations, encouragement, or simply spreading the word, you can help ensure Gurkha veterans and their families receive the respect and support they have earned. Together, we can make every step count.
