Story

For the 3rd year in a row we will be taking on the challenge to run the distance between the two GNAAS bases. Stockton-on-tees to Langwathby and back to cover a total of 103.56 land miles (as the crow flies).

We will be covering the distance in a 24 hour period on a treadmill which this year is kindly hosted as a joint even with the newest gym in Appleby, The Training Collective.

Your help and support will definitely keep the team going in the early morning hours for whoever gets the short straw of running 10 miles at 2am!

Last year we smashed the 130 mile mark, as you’d expect, we love a challenge and this year we are going to aim for the target of 150 miles (240 Kilometres). Aiming for an average pace of 10k per hour.

This year given the additional support from Chris & Kirsty at The Training Collective we have the opportunity to have a rowing machine alongside for those that maybe don’t fancy a run.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) rescues hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year throughout the Northeast, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. Their doctor-led critical care teams deliver life-saving treatments at the scene of the incident whether that is on a fell top, a roadside or in a city centre. The charity responded to 1,640 call outs last year* alone, via their helicopter and emergency response vehicles, where they performed treatments and procedures which can mean the difference between life or death.
