Rett syndrome is devastating for a family. Having suspected something was not quite be right,suddenly they are told their child will be profoundly disabled, with multiple health problems including epilepsy, a curved spine, breathing problems, feeding difficulties and gut/bowel issues.

Rett UK is there to pick up the pieces; emotional support, high quality, accurate advice & information, advocacy, reducing isolation, empowering families, building emotional resilience and helping the person with Rett syndrome live a life worth living.

My niece was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome when she was a few months old and now aged 3, she is unable to do the things we take for granted. Incorporating my summer step challenge with work, which started on 3rd July, I am aiming over this 8 week period to hit 1 million steps for Rett UK, as my niece may never be able to hit that many steps.

I will provide weekly updates on how much I have done, and how many are left.
