Fundraising for Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust
Call it an early mid-life crisis, or a desperate cry for help, but I have signed up to trek across the West Bengal region of India to the foothills of the Himalayas. A group of brave people (and 1 nerd!) will climb to Dzongri La, 4200m up, as well as a unique visit to Durrell’s Pygmy Hog project in Assam. The Founder’s Trek celebrates 100 years since the birth of Durrell's visionary founder, Gerald Durrell.
This expedition includes hiking and camping within sight of the world's third highest mountain, Kanchenjunga, with a unique behind-the-scenes insight into Durrell's vital wildlife conservation work.
I have always been passionate about animals, which is in no small part down to Durrell. We have always had a world-class conservation charity on our doorstep here in Jersey, for which we are so lucky. I have spent countless hours walking around Jersey Zoo wishing I could make more of a difference. It has become more apparent than ever that conservation projects are more important now than they have ever been.
This has inspired me to stop wishing I could make a difference and instead try and make a small contribution to change and support Durrell on their simple mission statement - ‘Saving Species from Extinction’.
I ask you to help play a part in this journey and help me meet my fundraising target, so we can help Durrell to continue saving species from extinction.
