UPDATE
Yyesterday saw travel from Dover to Reims. Meeting up with various other teams along the way. Today the Crusade starts for real with all the challenges coming up.
David, Sarah and Louise will be taking on The Travel Trade Crusade, a mad road trip across Europe, travelling across 6 countries in 3 days doing ridiculously wacky challenges along the way, all whilst dressed as characters from Scooby-Doo! We will be competing against other travel companies to see who be crowned the top crusaders for 2024 and win extra donations for charity.
Our chosen charity is Just A Drop, a charity that believes everyone, everywhere, should have access to clean water as a basic right.
Between the three of us we have travelled the World numerous times and have each experienced the hardship in areas where clean water and adequate sanitation isn’t available and the effects that this has on a community. We each feel very passionately about the work that Just A Drop does after learning more about their projects.
771 million people globally don’t have access to safe water. That’s 1 in 10 people.
A child dies every 2 minutes from a water related disease.
1.7 billion people don’t have access to adequate sanitation. That’s 1 in 5 people.
2.27 billion people don’t have access to basic hygiene services. That’s 1 in 3 people.
Drinking dirty water makes people ill. That’s just part of the picture... A lack of safe water and sanitation holds back development and makes it harder for communities to escape the poverty trap.
With clean water, communities can begin to lift themselves out of poverty and build brighter futures.
Just £3 Provides a school child in Kenya with safe water throughout their school years.
Just £25 provides biosand filter to a family in Cambodia.
Just £50 supports a family in Uganda with safe water and sanitation for 30 years.
A big thank you goes to Jetset who have sponsored our travelling and accommodation costs so that every penny we raise goes directly to Just A Drop.
