Story
Hello everyone,
The team, here at Openreach are undertaking a Charity walk on Saturday 5th August, The Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, in aid of the wonderful Great North Children's Hospital!
The challenge itself, is a circular walk which encompasses three major peaks in the Yorkshire Dales. Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough, the best-known hills in the area.
The route can be started from several different points and covers 39.2km (24,5miles). Setting off, boots on the ground at 6am, we intend to complete the last peak and be back to our start point by 6pm.
A little bit about the team undertaking the challenge. We are all from Engineering teams, based in the North East of England (Berwick to Middlesbrough). Age range approx. (22-55 years old) at varied levels of fitness. We are doing this mainly due to the fact the charity are amazing but also for our own wellbeing, and team engagement.
The Charity is very close to all of our hearts with one of our participants in particular having a family member receiving ongoing treatment from the Hospital. This hospital, helps thousands of people every year and this is only possible thanks to continued donations with the hospital receiving £10 million in public funding since 2021. We hope to play a very small but necessary part in this continued and vital stream!
Donations to the Great North Children's Hospital Foundation support the many children and their families who come to our hospital for treatment and care, making their experience the best it possibly can be. Please see link below for more information -

Innovations that really make a difference to our patients and staff including life changing research, cutting-edge equipment and technology are funded by donations along with initiatives to support the wellbeing and development of our staff.
Evidence shows that children have a quicker recovery when they are in an environment they enjoy and we strive to make GNCH as welcoming and friendly as it can be.
Thank you so much for your support!
