We raise funds for Imprezza Academy to provide secondary education in Kenya

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am raising money for Operation Imprezza. This is a Devon-based charity raising funds for Imprezza Academy, a school in Kenya providing a free education for children who are disadvantaged. I first interacted with the charity through my secondary school, Torquay Girls' Grammar School, who have a special friendship with the Academy in Kenya. I became Head Girl when I was in year 12 and engaged regularly with the charity in social media and fundraising efforts and was kindly invited to be a trustee once I turned 18 and continue to be a trustee till date. It has been a huge privilege to work with such a dedicated team of trustees and inspiring to be part of such a positive and impactful project which changes the lives of so many children.

Imprezza Academy was founded in 2001 and has been supported by the charity Operation Imprezza. There is a constant demand for funds. It costs about £25 a month to cover the basic needs of one student. Extras such as medical costs can easily ramp up. The bill for hospital attendance is never less than £100 and all the students medical needs are paid for by the school. Many students have to stay at the academy over the holidays so that they can be assured of safety, food and medical care. More information about the school and the charity can be found on the website here: https://operation-imprezza.org/.

Operation Imprezza is a UK based charity (No:1148240) supporting Imprezza Academy, a school for pupils based in the third poorest part of Western Kenya. Many children in rural locations can’t attend school because it is too far from their homes. Along with day students, Imprezza Academy also has boarding facilities so that students living over 2 hours walk from the site will still be able to gain an education. As many of the students who attend the Academy are destitute, orphaned, malnourished or HIV+, Imprezza offers healthcare, food and even a permanent home to pupils.
