Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Did you know September is the only month with the same number of letters in its name as the number of the month?: it is the ninth month and has nine letters. Also, it is an important date for the Duchenne Community. The 7th September is Duchenne Awareness Day. It's this date in the year to represent the 79 exons on the dystrophin gene that causes DMD - 7th of the 9th.

I have decided to do a #STEPtemberchallenge walking, wheeling, swimming or dancing 7900 steps a day and  even stepping onto the scales and losing 7.9lbs,  for the duration of September to raise awareness of the devastating condition that affected my  Dan. Some of you know that I work for this charity, supporting the families that still live with this condition on a daily basis and as a small charity, we need all the awareness and funds we can get, especially after the recent times.  It may not sound a lot to many but I'm determined to make sure I hit the target every day, so that's why I think its achievable,  as I am not the fittest and sport is not my biggest love.

The DFSG helps families affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a muscle-wasting condition mainly affecting boys. The condition results in decreasing mobility and muscle strength with limited life expectancy (usually to mid-20s). We provide a helpline, support, and organise social events.
