We are travelling to Delhi, NZ and China dressed as characters from Madagascar!!!!

Amar, Ankit, Ricky and I, have been fortunate enough to go to university and get a degree.  We feel strongly that children all over the world should have the same opportunity.  Unfortunately we are unable to help every single child, but we would like to start by making a small difference.  

Each of us has been to Mumbai, and seen the poverty suffered by so many.  Not only this, but we know first hand about gender inequality and the health issues faced by individuals living in slums.  

The Mumbai Slums project has been up and running since Sept 2009.  It focusses on two slums in East Bandra and its aims include:

Getting children into school

Reduce spread of disease via education of children and adults

Protecting children from abuse

Working with local authorities to improve services for locals

We feel this project is an extremely worthwile cause.  It directly benefits 5000 children and equips them with the skills to improve their prospects.  In the last few years, a preschool has been set up. antenatal sessions have been conducted and gender discrimination sessions have been held.  These are just a few of the activities that have been organised.  

Already, the benefits of this fantastic project can seen.  Some children have got jobs and places of voactional courses.
