I am planning to ride a motorbike from Ushuaia in Argentina to Prudhoe Bay Anchorage in Alaska bottom to top!

 

Why do the Trip?

I decided join the British Army quite early on in my teenage years but not before I had earned a degree at University.

My careers adviser at school suggested I try for an Army Scholarship to Sandhurst, which I was awarded in May 2010.

During the overall enrolment conversation, the army suggested that if I take a gap year I should make sure I achieve something meaningful and productive, but the scope for this is quite limited and I was certainly looking to do something outside the usual activities.

I had exhausted many options when I was moved by the BBC news clip on the Fisher House charity and knew immediately, that whatever trip I took, it must be for their benefit and that of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity and other Fisher Houses proposed for the future.

The Fisher House Foundation builds and runs "homes away from home" for military patients and their families, normally on US military hospital bases.

Here in the UK, they have teamed up with the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity to create the first UK Fisher House.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is the receiving hospital for all the UK's military patients from around the world, and provides world class care for our military.

Having a Fisher House within walking distance means that families can be near to their loved ones when they are brought back to Birmingham, and military patients can get off the ward and spend some time with families, friends and mates from their regiments.

Fisher House is a wonderful idea and I hope to make a difference by supporting the first UK house.
