Greetings everyone!

My name is Olivia, and I have the joy of working as the Fundraising Officer for Positive Action in Housing (PAiH). This year, I am excited to join my wonderful colleagues in the Glasgow Kiltwalk 2025 on April 26, in hopes of raising essential funds for our charity.

Since becoming part of PAiH in August 2024, I have been moved by the incredible work our team does daily to support individuals from minority ethnic, refugee, and immigrant backgrounds. I’ve witnessed the resilience and strength of those rebuilding their lives, often amidst overwhelming challenges.

While my privilege, race, and circumstances mean that my experience does not even come close to what most people face, as someone from Canada living in Scotland, I strongly empathise with the struggles of finding a sense of belonging, home, and security in a new environment. It’s a time that can feel deeply unstable and uncertain. For many reasons, it is infuriating and unjust that most people do not have the same chances or path that I do to live in this country. In the current climate surrounding immigration in the UK, many asylum seekers and migrants face dangers that are far too real, with the risk of homelessness and extreme poverty looming over them.

At PAiH, we believe in a world where everyone deserves to live with safety and dignity, free from the clutches of poverty, homelessness, and inequality. We invite you to join us in this mission. Your support can make a significant difference for those in urgent need of housing and assistance.
