Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

As you may know, the art of walking is a curious thing. Makes-a one man weep, makes another man sing. Change your heart in to a little white dove - that's the power. That's the power of WALKING!

But this time, I am doing the tough job of putting one foot in front of the other in an alternate manner on flat London pavements whilst wearing comfortable shoes for 10 Km - yes, I said TEN KILOMETRES! The explorer Ranulph Fiennes was asked to do this walk - but he turned it down BECAUSE IT WAS TOO TOUGH EVEN FOR HIM.

Why perform such an arduous feat? To give money to legal charities who offer free advice and representation for those who would otherwise be unable to afford justice. The people who work at these charities put in alot of hours and their hearts and souls to offer help to the less fortunate who are, more often than not, being exploited by more powerful interests

For example, the Free Representation Unit offers advice and representation in the Employment Tribunal for employees who have been unfairly dismissed from their nasty ex-employers. It would cost thousands to bring such claims for most people and they would never see justice. I volunteer for this charity and they need £££ for simple things like keeping admin staff and an office going in order  to process the thousands of referrals from e.g. Citizens Advice Bureaux. One day, you might need free legal advice of some sort, and your donation will be a kind of moral downpayment for that time. Think of it as saving some goodwill for the future.

I know it's a bit late (the walk is tomorrow) but well, I hope you'll be persuaded to give what you can. As I said, only hardy souls make it across the convenient terrain built for the purpose of strolling pleasantly on a warm May evening. So if you want to sponsor me by the mile, that will give me inspiration to make it to the finish line undefeated by the pleasant views and amenities along the way.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: London Legal Support Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now -  and I promise not to send pizza deliveries to your house on the hour, every hour for a week!
