Story
“Night Without Lights” is a student-led initiative, founded to raise awareness about energy poverty in parts of Africa where nearly 578 million people are having their days cut due to lack of electricity. The funds we raise will provide clean, safe, and affordable solar lights to transform lives in rural communities. All you have to do is switch off your lights for as little as one hour to experience what a night is like without reliable lighting! This is AIS' first year participating in this initiative, and we want to start off with a bang. Our goal is to raise 2000€ contributing to the team's overall goal. We are joining 5 other schools to spread awareness and fundraise from a larger community. Our goal is to raise 7000 GBP and it will allow SolarAid to reach 9440 people and decrease CO2 emissions by 1857 tonnes! Please support SolarAid ( www.solar-aid.org) by donating any amount of money that you feel comfortable with so that together, we can create a world where no one is left in the dark. To kick off this project, we are encouraging everyone to turn off their lights on the evening of the 16th of February.
