Story

Most people visiting this page will already know the main reason why I am running the Vienna Marathon to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK. However this marathon will also be for anyone who has lost a loved one to pancreatic cancer or is dealing with the aftermath of diagnosis. Only by raising awareness and increasing research funding will the tragic survival rates improve.

I am truly grateful to everyone who has donated to our charity efforts in the past and ask that people only donate what they can.

Many thanks and please see below for some background info on the work that Pancreatic cancer does.

Pancreatic Cancer UK is the only national charity fighting pancreatic cancer on all fronts: Support, Information, Campaigning and Research.

Following our Study for Survival in 2011, Pancreatic Cancer UK launched the Campaign for Hope which sets out two ambitious goals:

- To double five-year pancreatic cancer survival rates within five year

- To change the NHS experience of pancreatic cancer patients from being one of the worst to one of the best

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.
