Story
We are driving from the UK to Mongolia, approximately 10,000 miles, in a small car as old as ourselves. The aim of our trip is to raise money for Fields Of Life and their drilling programme. Water is such a basic human need and essential for life. We ask for your support in this worthy cause to help provide wells to the people of East Africa. Read on down for more on their progress or click on the link below to our website to find out more...

FIELDS OF LIFE
Fields of Life is committed to sharing the Christian faith by collaborating with local communities and churches in East Africa to bring about positive change through the provision of quality education, clean water, health promotion and other community based projects. It is our vision to see meaningful and real change occur in the lives of whole communities in East Africa through holistic and sustainable development which empowers people living in extreme poverty and helps them to help themselves restore their dignity and provide hope for their future.
WATER DRILLING PROGRAMME
Clean accessible drinking water is a basic human right, essential to life; yet over one eighth of the world does not have access to safe drinking water. Instead, it is a luxury in many parts of East Africa. Many people suffer sickness and death due to water borne diseases and valuable hours are lost fetching dirty water over long distances.
Fields of Life purchased its own drilling rig late in 2009 which reduced costs of borehole drilling from £6,000 to £3,600. Fields of Life currently has the operational capacity to drill 10 wells per month having recently acquired a 2nd drilling rig in 2012 which has doubled capacity. It is our vision to drill 1,000 wells over a ten year period.
To date, over 320 wells have been drilled and are providing communities (c. 350,000 villagers) with clean, safe drinking water. Fields of Life are currently drilling in Northern Uganda. This is an area that has been ravaged by civil war over the last 25 years resulting in the displacement of an estimated 2 million people and the destruction of what infrastructure was in place such as schools, health clinics and borehole wells.
