Story
The Neurosurgery team is raising funds for the John King Brain Tumour Foundation Charity.
On Saturday, November 16, the Neuro team will come together for a fun walk along the river, from Stratford Olympic Park to Greenwich, marking their 5th annual walk. All funds raised will support the charity's mission to create a new roof garden adjacent to the Neuro ICU unit.
Over the past five years, the John King Brain Tumour Foundation has tirelessly fundraised to provide vital neurosurgical equipment for both adult and paediatric patients at St. George's Hospital. These efforts have led to significant improvements in surgical outcomes for patients with brain cancer, brain disorders, and brain injuries. In addition, the charity maintains a beautiful roof garden adjacent to the neurosurgical wards.
Their next exciting project is to create a ‘Forest in the Sky’—a new roof garden adjacent to the Neuro ICU unit at the Atkinson Morley Wing, St. George’s Hospital.
This Neuro ICU garden will offer a peaceful and restorative space for critical care patients, their carers, and loved ones as they recover from the effects of extremely challenging and traumatic circumstances. The garden is designed to aid rehabilitation, helping patients reconnect with the outside world and use their senses to stimulate the healing process.
We invite you to join us in this meaningful cause. With your support, we’re one step closer to making this transformative roof garden a reality!
