Notre Dame Refugee Centre are fundraising to ensure that their work can continue during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are one of the few centres continuing to take new referrals at this time and are increasingly struggling to fund our work.
Your donations will go towards ensuring that clients continue to receive support remotely, be that legal support, counselling, ESOL classes or befriending. In particular, we are raising funds to ensure that we can remain connected with our clients while the centre is closed by topping up their phone credit and sending them letters and care packages. Currently, we anticipate that we will run out of funds to continue covering phone credit top-ups in the next few months if we do not raise more.
A single donation of £20 will usually cover an entire month of online classes and services for a client.
Phone credit offers a vital lifeline to our clients in what can otherwise be a particularly isolating time. One man who uses the Befriending Scheme told us: "The befriending sessions are helping me to improve my mental wellbeing as I get to talk to someone and my mood improves every time. I am suffering from depression and loneliness and the befriending is helping me a lot - I really enjoy chatting with my match."
Please donate if you are able and consider sharing this emergency fund with others in your own networks too.
Thank you.
