Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
I have decided to try and raise money for a UK based OCD charity. OCD is a disorder which has plagued my entire adult life, and so I've decided I'm going to only eat beans, rice, and porridge for five days (March 18-22) to see if I can raise a little bit of money for something so dear to my heart. For the five days, I will have 100g of porridge made with water, and for lunch and dinner, 50g rice with 100g of beans. No tea, coffee, or any seasonings. As a reward for every £50 I raise, I will be allowed 1 cup of tea with milk!
I've heard OCD called the 'what if?' disorder, and that is a statement which deeply resonates with me. I worry constantly about the safety of myself and my loved ones, to the point where it inhibits my daily life. It is an incredibly lonely disorder, and I often feel too ashamed to talk about it. It is a disorder which is still widely misunderstood.
Moreover, having OCD isn't really treatable without access to private healthcare, and therefore money. The most relief I have ever gotten from the disorder was when I was seeing a therapist regularly and undergoing CBT and exposure therapy. I no longer can afford this treatment, and I have been on a waiting list for six months now to even get an initial appointment. This is why this charity is so important to me. Having charities like this help people get access to resources, help, and remind people suffering with OCD that they're not alone.
Please, please donate to a charity which is so dear to my heart!
