Story
My name is Adam Bright and I represent the North American Charlton Athletic Supporters' Club (the "NAADDICKS" ), a club for Charlton fans all over the North American region. Our goal is to give back to the club and community we hold so dear to our hearts through this fundraiser for the Upbeats.
Launched in 2008, the Charlton Upbeats is a free program open to children, young people and adults with Down's Syndrome. Over 170 young people are registered with the Upbeats and they are a group that occupy a very special place in the heart of the Charlton family. With lockdown restrictions easing and the Upbeats back in training from the start of April, they need our support! The past year has been tough for the Upbeats. While the Charlton Athletic Community Trust has done their best to make lockdown a bit less boring, with weekly virtual events including bingo, player interviews and a baking class, nothing compares to getting together in person and playing football. Help us give the Upbeats a summer to remember by contributing towards a goal of £6,500 which is the amount left to raise this year in order for the Upbeats to run annually.
I know how hard it is to run these programs and to always be looking over your shoulder in case the money runs out. With so much voluntarism already in place we feel strongly that these folks need a lift and this could be a game changer.
